Hi there,

My name is Dana and I am currently a high school junior. I want to attend a college that not only challenges a student academically but also encourages a well-rounded development. Currently, one of my main extra-curricular pursuits is Model UN. With its distinct nature, MUN has influenced me both intellectually and socially. Traveling all over the world to attend conferences has enabled me to learn about the world and make long-lasting friendships. Having been an active member on the club for over two years, I really hope to continue engaging in MUN throughout college.

This fall, I was appointed an Assistant Director position in the first annual session of HarvardMUN-China. In March 2010, I will fly to Beijing on my own and take part in this prestigious conference. The magnitude of HMUN worldwide has suggested to me that Harvard has a highly respected MUN club, which is one of the reasons why I am starting to consider applying to Harvard. Could you tell me a bit about the Model UN club in Harvard College? Can freshmen join? Is there any contact info you can give me if I would like to talk to the club members prior to applying to Harvard?

Thanks!
~DANA

Hi Dana,

Great question - Model UN is definitely a big deal here at Harvard. You can find out more info about the club at http://www.harvardmun.org/2010/websys.exe?file=index.html, and can go to the contact page if you would like to email the current members.

My freshman roommate joined the club freshman fall and was already going on retreats and taking executive positions in the conferences by freshman spring - she absolutely loved it and it shaped her Harvard experience! If you would like to talk to her, send me an email with any questions you have and I'll forward them to her :)

Hope this helps!

My sister has also been wanting to get involved with Model UN. What would be the best way for one to get involved? As you can see from the below google search results pages, there are so many model UN conferences
